Backer Calesco is a business unit within Backer AB, part of NIBE Group's Business Area Element. Since 1970, that means for more than 50 years, we have been specialising in applications of etched foil heating elements in Kolbäck Sweden. Backer Calesco produces more than 35 million heaters per year and offers the widest product range of all flexible heating element manufacturers worldwide.
With production in Sweden, Poland, Vietnam and China and sales office/warehouse in the US, Backer Calesco combines excellent quality with global sourcing for cost competitiveness and efficient logistic solutions.

Kanthal buys a licence from USA.
1970
Start of Foil division.
1973
Start of Norells Sweden AB in Västerås, mainly producing "domestic" application of heating elements.
1975
First Commercial product: Piglet heater.
1981
First break through into Automotive Industry, rear view mirror heater delivered to Britax Wingard UK to Ford.
1984
Start of Waterbed production.
1992
Management buyout, CALESCO is founded.
1994
First delivery of RVM heaters into US Market.
1995
Opening of Norells US Office in Chicago.
1998
NIBE buys CALESCO
2000
CALESCO starts a Production unit in Poland.
2004
CALESCO starts a production unit in China.
2006
First high-volume automotive camera heater.
2010
CALESCO becomes a business unit within Backer BHV. CALESCO Norells Inc. becomes Backer Heating Technologies Inc.
2016
Backer Calesco reaches 30 million heaters per year.
2018
Backer Calesco starts a production unit in Vietnam.
2019
Backer Calesco extends production area in Sweden and Poland.
2021
Backer Calesco reaches 35 million heaters per year.
